Though we’re unable to be at Toy Fair 2015 ourselves, a few big news sources around the globe are covering the event with gusto, so we’re going to link to them and collate their thoughts and findings in a neat little package (aren’t we good to you?!).
Every year as Toy Fair rolls around there is a slew of previously leaked blasters on show, along with quite a few surprises. This year the blasters that seem to be getting most chatter in the realm of adult news sources is the “Nerf Rival” series, quoted by Bloomberg (yes THAT Bloomberg) as now targeting ‘teens, after success wooing girls’. Nerf has always targeted teens, which is probably why some Nerf fans are using another quote “Nerf now targeting adults”.
Here’s the Nerf Rivals press imagery:
Nerf Rival series fires an inch-thick solid foam ball that will allegedly fire in a “straight line at almost 70 miles an hour (113 kilometers an hour)”. Let us assume that puppy is going to get the ‘Nerfed’ treatment in Australia, wherein they’re de-tuned performance, wise lest a child lose an eye (groan).
Next up, the K’NEX ‘Build-a-Blaster’ K-FORCE Line. As you can see from the press images, they allegedly fire up to 75 feet. Color us dubious.
UK Nerf reported on this line back in January when they covered London’s Toy Fair. Key points we took from their coverage: The darts are “the same size and shape specification as NERF Elite darts” with a weightier, honeycomb styled tip. Darts sold in a 10 or 30 pack. Fires up to 75ft, but may “have different ranges for different regions”.
One of the more interesting blasters to come out of Toy Fair 2015 is the iconic Halo Needler pistol from the Halo video game franchise.
Mattel’s BOOMco brand has some sweet blasters within its lot, but this one takes the cake, a fully licensed product from the Halo series. The Needler is said to have a range of around 70 feet. Oh and those ‘needles’ on top glow. Nice. BOOMco’s other motorized blaster release comes in the form of the Spinsanity 3X™ Blaster (CJG60), a 30 dart capacity, 70ft range, multi-barrel blaster:

Next up, we’ve got Nerf’s newest additions, including the rather nicely designed Nerf Modulus series.
Yes now even a complete idiot can mod Nerf blasters to look just how they like. This is something our own Lady Nerfenstein has been banging on about for years and finally, Hasbro has done it.

Lastly for our own coverage, it’s the Nerf BioSquad blasters. Silly String foam firing bio madness!
The design on the Nerf Zombie Strike BioSquad blasters is actually pretty sweet, even if the silly string addition is a little gimmicky.
For more coverage visit the guys and gals at BlasterLabs, they have loads of coverage because they were at the event. For now though we hope you enjoyed our choice picks!
